The home is God’s first classroom, and parents are the first teachers. Proverbs 4:1–4 shows us a generational passing of wisdom—Solomon recalls how David, his father, taught him God’s ways and commanded him to hold tightly to truth. This pattern of instruction reminds us that faith is not meant to be left to chance; it is to be intentionally taught and modeled. Think of Hannah, the mother of Samuel (1 Samuel 1–2). After dedicating Samuel to the Lord, she raised him in reverence to God before presenting him to Eli the priest. Samuel grew to hear God’s voice clearly because his foundation was built on instruction and prayer. Her intentionality as a parent impacted an entire nation. As parents, teaching our children the ways of God is not only through words but also through consistent example. Children learn by watching more than by listening, so every act of love, discipline, forgiveness, and faithfulness becomes a lesson that shapes their spiritual future.
