Luke 13:22–30 teaches that entering God's kingdom is urgent, personal, and requires humble, repentant faith. Jesus describes the kingdom as a narrow door, stressing that many will delay and find it shut, discovering too late that proximity to religion is not the same as salvation. Though people wonder how many will be saved, Jesus redirects the question toward personal responsibility: strive to enter now. Those who refuse will face sorrow and exclusion, while people from every corner of the world—unexpected outsiders—will feast joyfully in God's kingdom. In the end, God overturns human expectations: the last will be first, and the first will be last.

Luke 23:42

Today's sermon explores the practical application of kingdom righteousness found in Matthew 6:1-7:12, emphasizing that true piety involves intimate devotion to God rather than public performance. Drawing on Jesus' teaching in Luke 10 regarding eternal life, Pastor Jason argues that while obedience to God's law is required for flourishing, believers rely on Christ's imputed righteousness and ongoing instruction to fulfill it. The message highlights three key aspects of discipleship: the necessity of continuous spiritual instruction, the demand for obedient living that brings joy, and the certainty of divine judgment which serves as a motivator for faithfulness. Ultimately, we are urged to pursue a heart-level righteousness rooted in grace, seeking first God's kingdom to experience true flourishing in this life and eternity.

Matthew 9:1–17 reveals Jesus as the King who has authority to forgive sinners, came to call sinners to Himself, and is the mediator of the New Covenant. Through the healing of the paralytic, the calling of Matthew, and His teaching about fasting, Jesus shows that He came not for the self-righteous, but for those who recognize their need for Him. Because of Christ, we are free to obey not to earn God's acceptance, but because we are already accepted in Him—living lives of grace, love, forgiveness, and worship in response to what He has done.
