1 Peter.4:12-19
Christianity is not a bed of roses; you will surely experience suffering even though Jesus has taken away your sins as a Christian, because you are still in this world (Romans 8:18; John 16:33).
As a Christian, some sufferings are inevitable as long as you're still on this side of eternity (Acts 9:16; Psalms 34:19).
There are things that cannot be identified or categorized under suffering as a Christian, and the first of it is sickness.
Sickness is never, and will never be God's will (James.5:13-15).
Jesus healing the sick also shows that sickness is not God's will.
It should as well be noted that there are demonically orchestrated afflictions which should not be categorised under suffering as a Christian (1 Thessalonians.2:18). Any suffering as a result of wrong choices or ignorance should not be referred to as Christian suffering.
What Christian Suffering Implies:
1. Persecution from people who hate Jesus, the Faith, the Gospel, or godliness (2Timothy 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 3:4).
2. Temptation (Hebrews 2:18; 2 Peter 2:6-8) - whatever torments your righteous soul is a suffering.
3. Loneliness (Luke 6:22)
4. Criticism (Matthew 15:11; Luke 6:23)
5. Self denial (Luke 9:23)
6. Sacrificing towards Kingdom progress
Jesus' suffering was in two dimensions:
He suffered guilt, condemnation, rejection, sickness on the Cross so that we may not suffer same (Isa.53:5).
He also suffered loneliness and persecution, that it may serve as an example for us to follow (1Pet.2:20-24).
