What is a LEO? What zone do you live in? When is hurricane season? Don't know where to start? 

We find out today on the Team Charleston Family Readiness Podcast.  Today we talk to SSgt Ashley Williamson and SSgt Robert Sherwood from the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron's Ememercy management office about getting prepared for hurricane season.  The Atlantic hurricane season starts 1 June and runs through 30 November and NOAA has predicted an above-average year for hurricane activity in 2020.   

Maybe its collecting medication, putting up storm shudders, loading up the family pet, or maybe finding the medication for the family pet, the time to start thinking bout how you're going to do it is now.

HURCON 5: Indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph (50 knots) could arrive within 96 hours.

HURCON 4: Indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph (50 knots) could arrive within 72 hours.

HURCON 3: Indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph could arrive within 48 hours.

HURCON 2: Indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph could arrive within 24 hours.

HURCON 1: Indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph could arrive within 12 hours.

HURCON 1C - Caution: Winds of 40-57 mph/35-49 knots sustained are occurring.

HURCON 1R - Recovery: Destructive winds have subsided and are no longer forecast to occur; survey and work crews are permitted to determine the extent of the damage and to establish safe zones around hazards (e.g. downed power lines, unstable structures). Non-essential personnel are asked to remain indoors.

This week on the Team Charleston Family Readiness Podcast, I learn the ins and outs of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and discovered there is more to it then just responding to abuse. They have an entire catalog of classes, workshops, counseling, and support programs to help grow both healthy families and relationships. 

The Family Advocacy Program works to prevent abuse by offering programs to stop domestic violence before it starts.
