The Trump administration seems more aligned with Putin's interests than with the interests of Ukraine, Europe, or even of America. Many people are seriously asking if we have become the bad guys.
Peter Clarke and Devon Carsen discuss this and related topics.

KMO is a sci-fi writer and longtime podcast host. In this episode, Peter Clarke talks with KMO about his history in the podcast space (his first podcast, C-Realm, launched in 2006!), why he shifted away from doomerism, and why he believes that America has a chance to keep growing in the age of Trump and Elon.

Bryan Caplan is an economics professor at George Mason University and a New York Times bestselling author. This interview with Peter Clarke covers Caplan's new books Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration and Build, Baby, Build.
Caplan makes a compelling case for why (basically) everyone benefits when people are allowed to move from poor countries to rich countries. After making the basic case for open borders, he discusses common criticisms of increasing immigration. He argues that while more immigration is a good thing, that doesn't mean that immigrants should expect to be showered in free housing and abundant social benefits upon arrival.
The second half of this interview covers Build, Baby, Build, Caplan's book that argues for decreasing housing regulation in order to achieve affordable housing and vibrant cities.

This episode focuses on a short list of things we want to see Trump's new administration get done to improve America. This list is largely nonpartisan and seems quite possible.
It's no secret that Peter Clarke and Devon, the hosts of Team Futurism, are no fans of Donald Trump. But we are determined to put aside partisan bias as much as possible in order to stay optimistic and hopeful for the future!

This conversation between Peter Clarke and Naum Milyavskiy covers the recent debate between Jordan Peterson and Richard Dawkins that was moderated by Alex O'Connor.
Naum argues that Peterson's symbolic approach to the world has great value, especially for artists. Dawkins might be technically correct, but his analysis is not complete if he ignores the powerful role that stories play in our lives. Peter is more sympathetic to Dawkins' view, but also agrees that Peterson is not, at the very least, totally full of BS.
In the second half of the episode, Peter and Naum discuss a recent article by Katherine Dee in which she argues that culture is not stuck because new forms of art are developing online: The Internet-Personality-as-Art, TikTok sketch comedy, etc. Peter attempts to argue that these new forms of art aren't really art, or aren't comparable to novels, records, etc. Naum takes the other side, arguing that it's never a good idea to gatekeep on what should be considered art.

This is our last word on Trump before the 2024 election. Despite endorsements from Elon Musk and many other tech people, Donald Trump is in no way the candidate that is right for America's future. The fact that he can't accept election results is automatically disqualifying. It's been said a million times and it's incredibly boring to repeat, but the peaceful transfer of power is the single most foundational aspect of our democracy. Trump is the enemy of the peaceful transfer of power, which makes him the enemy of America.
In this short episode, we discuss this but also hit a range of other topics related to the election.

In 2007, Joe Rogan went on Tom Green's House Tonight, a show that took calls from random people using Skype. You can see Rogan light up when he realizes how the future of media is going to change forever with this technology.
Rogan tells Green, "You need to keep doing this. We need to figure out how you make money from this."
On this episode of Team Futurism, Peter and Devon watch the clip and share comments on how Rogan has changed, how podcasting has really democratized the media landscape, and what might come next.

In this episode, Peter and Devon discuss Russell Brand, Trump, and the culture of grift that is currently thriving--particularly on the political right.
This conversation was inspired by Brand's recent announcement that he's selling a "magical amulet" to protect people from "evil energies." Which honestly seems more interesting than Trump shoes or Trump crypto.
The conversation takes a few turns till we eventually talk ourselves into needing the magical amulet. We have a few ideas for improving the tech and making it legit. It may even be something that could change the world.

There's a popular theory online that Elon Musk is supporting Trump in order to run the government as a shadow president through JD Vance. The Atlantic even ran a piece embracing this "Trojan horse" view.
In this episode, Peter and Devon discuss this theory and other possible reasons tech billionaires might be so enthusiastic about supporting Donald Trump.

I finally took my first ride in a Waymo, the autonomous taxi developed by Alphabet (Google). In this episode, we discuss what it's really like to ride in a Waymo and why I’ll never again take Uber in San Francisco. We also compare Waymo to Tesla’s newly-announced Cybercab, which looks awesome but it’s still hard to tell what to expect from it.
