Tears

Listen Later

Tears

Tragedy makes my tears form a stream

Till I’m comforted by my mother in a dream

She cared and consoled me, vanquished my every fear

Showed me love and compassion, but hardly a tear

How did she manage to keep it in check?

Her cheeks were dry, not even a speck

Of tears

Was she taking all of that pain inside?

Doing her level best to always hide

Her fears

I marveled how she could take in the worst news

Smile away the pain while she prayed in the pews

Just as she would never cry, she would never sound a horn

Or give mention to her achievements, no she would only warn

That time will run so fast you won’t have time to do things twice

So, you’d better be sure and do things right, and don’t forget to be nice

No tears

Was she just holding them all deep inside

I don’t know why she felt the need to hide

Her fears

I may not know but something tells me that it’s probably very easy to see

She used them to douse the fires of anger and pain that were engulfing me

To clear the doubts and disbelief’s that were obstructing my view

Gave all with no thought for herself cause that’s just what you do

It brought a peace to her world as she prayed when the day was done

Thanking God for all she had, and prayers for each daughter and son

No tears

Shed for how things might have played

From little till her lovely hair had grayed

No fears

Judged only by what’s left behind

Search every corner but you won’t find

A trace of something left undone

A debt she owed to anyone

An unkind memory, an argument left bitter

Nothing undone, not a liar or a quitter

No tears

For what my mind paints for me to enjoy

From my earliest memories I was just a little boy

No fears

Mommy took my hand, took my pain

Brought the smiles back again

No tears

No fears

Just love

Happy Birthday Mom! I miss you so much!
