Hello, lovely ladies! In this episode of Embrace Midlife, I'm diving into the concept of 'fading effect bias'—or what I like to call the FAB bias. Despite its name, it's not very fab. It's essentially looking through rose-colored glasses when we recall past events, forgetting the negatives and remembering only the positives. This bias impacts not just our memories of big nights out drinking but also significant life events. I'll share a personal experience of converting old VHS tapes to digital format and the emotions it stirred, highlighting how this bias made me nostalgic for times that weren't always perfect. I also touch on the concept of negativity bias, which makes us focus on negative experiences in the short term but remind you that our brains are malleable and we can retrain them.
