This episode of Tech Heroes is special as February is both Black History Month and Open Source Month! We are featuring four Intuit technologists who are passionate about open source and are the maintainers of the set of Argo open source projects.
The Argo Project is an Intuit open source initiative that’s gathered significant momentum with developers for building cloud native applications on Kubernetes.
Today, Intuit financial products and services (TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint) are built and run on a modern development platform built on containers and Kubernetes. While building our platform, we noticed – and set out to address – gaps by creating several open source projects.
That’s how the Argo Project was born.
This set of Kubernetes-native tools is for deploying and running jobs and applications, encompassing four independent projects maintained by Intuit developers:
Two of them, Argo Workflows and Argo Events, are focused on MLOps, helping companies make machine learning production-ready.
For teams using Kubernetes and containers to build and run cloud-native applications, Argo CD and Argo Rollouts help in automating deployments with GitOps.
These tools can be used independently, but they are even more powerful when used together.
So far, 240+ end user companies are using and contributing to it. And, we’re proud that the project has over 10,000 stars, 500 contributors, 4,600 commits, 250 releases!
