Wow.  2020.  What a year.  I don't even know where to begin in summarizing this year when it comes to technology.  There was so much technology this year, I didn't even have enough time to cover it all.   I think we managed to average one podcast a month, which isn't horrible considering all the things that went on this year.  Plus, I had a complete makeover of my office that definitely put a wrench in producing shows and writing.  But, this will be a two part series.  First I will do my best to cover/summarize interesting tech from 2020.  Then, in a second episode (because I don't want this to go on forever) I will cover my 2021 Tech wishlist/predictions.  So, get yourself a tasty beverage, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show (or enjoy the horrible grammar if you are just reading this and exercising your eye muscles).

History of Phones, Cell Phones and Cellular Networks:

Telephone was invented January 1, 1870 by Alexander Graham Bell. It would take nearly 100 years before the cordless phone was invented in 1965. Less than 10 years after this, Dr. Martin Cooper from Motorola called the competition at Bell Labs, Dr. Joel S. Engel on April 3, 1973. The first cell phone weighted 2.4lbs and was 9.1x5.1x1.8in in size. It allowed for 30min of talking and 10 hours to re-charge! 10 hours! And from this point on, the world would be obsessed with wireless communication and continued to develop the technology from 1973 to today.

I definitely don't know much about how batteries work.  I briefly go over how a battery works and some key people and points in the history of batteries.  Then I move on to the latest in battery tech news by just Googling "Batter Technology" and clicking on News.  I discuss some articles and go over my thoughts on the battery industry and where it's headed in the future in a logical manner.  You may or may not agree with me, and that is fine.  This is mostly thoughts based on my experience and general knowledge as a Mechanical Engineer.  Hopefully you laugh at my horrible attempt to explain how a battery works.  I swear I read it at least 10-15 times and I still messed it up.  References are also listed below.

Keyboards. Yep, podcast on keyboards. You wouldn't think that keyboards would warrant a technology discussion.  However, keyboard technology, well… it's way more complex than I had thought. And I am actually pretty excited to have this discussion.  Especially since I believe my tastes are very niche compared to what the majority of people discuss on the interwebs.  So I definitely hope some of you give me some feedback and especially share your favorite keyboards, switches, etc… 

I completely forgot to mention custom keycaps! That's the best part of mechanical keyboards.  Customizing the keys to be whatever you want and personalize it to your liking.
