Georgetown University faculty member and world-renowned cybersecurity expert Chuck Brooks was this week’s guest, where he talked about a range of topics from the rise of AI to the US cyber defense systems. In Science and Tech News, he shared his Forbes article on the key cybersecurity trends to know for 2021. Then, in the news, the guys started the shocking revelation that 1.5 million people still pay for AOL! In other news, they looked at an Argentinian buying Google’s domain for cheap, a new browser that aims to charge a subscription fee, warnings against upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04, and an Experian data leak. Finally, in Deja News, Don reluctantly admitted Peter was right to assume defense attorneys would line up to appeal convictions that relied on Cellebrite’s phone crackers.

DevGraph’s Ravi Duddukuru joined the team this week to talk about the future of developer tools. Then, in Science and Tech News, he discussed the reasons behind the growth of cloud spending and reasons for migration. In the news, the guys covered Ubuntu’s release of 21.04, the conspiracy theories surrounding the Pentagon’s dormant IP addresses, ransomware gangs shorting their victims’ stocks, the hacking of Cellebrite’s iPhone cracker, and QNAP removing a backdoor. This week was the big one celebrating the 200th episode of Technado with Don Pezet. Then, in the news, the crew discussed Microsoft’ use of boiling liquid to cool servers, the Microsoft acquisition of Nuance, and the causes of Facebook’s massive data leak. In ‘Behind Bars,’ they looked at the arrest of a suspect who wanted to blow up an AWS data center. Then, in “Deja News,' they dug deeper into the php.net GitHub incident. Finally, in ‘WTF,’ they confirmed that COVID-19 vaccines won’t get you connected to the Internet. Bummer.

Christopher “CRob” Robinson, who leads Red Hat’s Product Security Program Management, was this week’s guest on Technado. After filling the team in on how the IBM acquisition impacted Red Hat and the future of Ted Hat Insights, he talked about how branded vulnerabilities get under his skin in ’What Grinds my Gears.” In the news, the guys discussed Arm’s new Armv9 architecture, the ruling in the case between Oracle and Google, Microsoft killing Cortana on mobile, Apple knowingly selling MacBooks with defective displays, and the Azure DNS issue that took Microsoft offline.
