Techno for Breakfast

As requested my Deep Control Podcast which is no longer online. ❤️

“Music makes me forget myself, my real position. it transports me to some other position not my own. Under the influence of music it seems to me that I feel what I do not really feel, that I understand what I do not understand, that I can do what I cannot do. I explain it by the fact that music acts like yawning, like laughter: I am not sleepy, but I yawn when I see someone yawning; there is nothing for me to laugh at, but I laugh when I hear people laughing.

Music carries me immediately and directly into the mental condition in which the man was who composed it. My soul merges with his and together with him I pass from one condition into another, but why this happens I don't know.”

Leo Tolstoy

DJ/Producer Andrew Swailes AKA "Mr. Squires"(Otres Crew)Cambodia has a love of music that has led him across the Globe chasing the music to Ibiza, Berlin, European Festivals and the Australian Bush Party Scene. It was at the Eclipse Festival, Australia 2012 that everything changed for him. After leaving Australia on a different path and with a different mindset he started a DJ career just as a new scene was emerging in Cambodia. He started doing Underground Techno Events for the infamous South East Asian party "Kerfuffle Cambodia" alongside @davebreezekerfuffle After six years in the Cambodian Jungle he moved to the City of Kuala Lumpur where he started to learn about the art of Music Production.

Now years later his debut EP "Evolve" has been released on @vision3records making it into the Top 100 Beatport Releases in Progressive House and Melodic House & Techno 🙏🏼🖤

Having a love for Deep, Melodic and Progressive vibes whilst playing to the Cambodian Sunrise the music he plays and now produces has led him to create his side project "Techno for Breakfast" bringing variations of House and Techno made for the Mornings. Starting a Podcast Series from talented and inspiring DJ's/Producers he has met along the way. 🖤

Nicolas Qui? Born in 1973 is a French DJ from Paris who is now living in Ibiza.

It all started in 1993 when he went to his first rave party in Paris.

The music had such an effect on him that this was what he wanted to do from now on for the rest of his life.

At that moment, he was completing his degree in Finances in Paris and in London but he regularly attended parties and started mixing.

During his years in Paris, he attended a Dj course at DJ Network and a 2- years Music Production course at Eanov School to improve his Dj skills and to explore production possibilities.

He then started to play in local parties. It was in 2011 that he took a dramatic decision. He was working as a financial advisor, but he wasn’t happy with his life. As a consequence he decided to move to Ibiza with his family, to pursue his music career full time.

The main influence of his music is the Minimal and the Techno from the 90’s, and the so special Deep House and Tech House sound of Ibiza.

This weeks episode of Techno for Breakfast coming from Oblique Industries!! 🔥

With music signed to such diverse labels as techno mainstays M_nus Records and Lucidflow, UK-based Ghetto-House label Sleazy G and leftfield Berlin label Compute Music (amongst others), it's clear to see that Oblique Industries is not one to be restricted by the boundaries of genre. Drawing influence from techno, house, minimal, electro, progressive and experimental sounds, Oblique Industries has crafted

a sound as much to tantalize the mind as the body, exploring the contrasts between light and dark, loud and soft, minimal and maximal... whilst delving deep into the spaces in between.

Aside from his own productions, Oblique Industries is well-known for his work as a remix artist, especially after being hand-selected by Richie Hawtin as the winner of the Plastikman 'Ask Yourself' Remix Competition out of over 1300 entries from around the world, earning him a place on Plastikman's 'Arkives' on seminal techno label M_nus Records. Oblique Industries' music is also available through Compute Music, Sleazy G, Lucidflow, Interchill, Bigger Deer, BUS, Planetaria Recordings and Polish label We Are Your Music Mate, as well as Australia's own Smash Bang and Subsonic Music.

Now based in Berlin, Germany, Oblique Industries has gained a reputation as one of Australia’s premier exports, attracting the attention of some of the world’s biggest events, including the likes of Fusion Festival, Creamfields Festival and Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Bringing his electric live show to the stages of Europe, Asia and the Middle-East, Oblique Industries has performed throughout France, Germany, Poland, Croatia, UK, Netherlands, Lebanon, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, China and Japan, it's obvious that Oblique Industries has no plans of slowing down anytime soon...

Danny B moving from the UK sounds of liquid dub and dnb to the enlightening of downtempo house and tech. Thanks to friends and now family.

Spending time away from the scene and living deserted on an island for 5 years given time to grow. Holding residency at Police Beach from 2014 - 2016 and going on to host his own parties "The Rong Ensemble", creating “The Runaway Rhythm” a radio podcast from his own bar Runaways on Koh Rong. Danny has been playing regular sets at venues all over Cambodia including the infamous Underground Techno Event Kerfuffle, Cambodia! 🔥

The sound depends on the mood and environment but the rhythm should move you and take you on a journey. Defining this as balearic because it can change and take on many musical forms. Taking influences from different parts of the globe and unexpected genres.👌🏼
