Practice guitars come in all shapes and sizes, but I like them when they feel like a regular guitar. That is what Jammy does – gives you that real guitar feel while being able to compact itself down for travel situations. And not an acoustic guitar, either. Full electric guitar (or acoustic) sounds. 

What is Jammy?

Jammy is a collapsable practice guitar. You can break it down for travel, then put it back together when it’s time to practice. You don’t even need to put the whole thing together to work on chords, scales, and more. 

Jammy comes in 4 pieces – the neck, the picking area, and the body pieces. The neck and pick area both are stringed parts. When they come together, it will feel like you are working on any electric guitar. The strings are adjustable in tension, and the 15 fret board is standard size.  

On the end of the pick area, you have an output jack, a headphone jack, and a USB port for connection with a computer.  

With the Jammy App, you can create different guitar sounds, learn patterns, use a metronome, or jam to backing tracks. The app is for iOS and Android. 

When you input the guitar tones, Jammy will remember so you don’t have to use the app all the time. Select the next sound by turning the dial on the front. 

I got to play it for a little bit at CES, then NAMM. It was fun to assemble and jam out. It was also pretty quiet, so the neighbors won’t get disturbed. It did win a best of show at NAMM.

In a shocking article, Amazon’s Treatment of Pregnant Women in their fulfillment centers appears to be rife with issues discriminating firings. This continues to put Amazon in a bad light considering they are already considered abusers of there workforce at least in my opinion. Only three more video shows from the studio here in Hawaii before I pack the whole thing up and ship it to Michigan. I will continue to do Audio based shows here after the pack out.

Fox and Hound 2-player game

1967 – Video game developer Ralph Baer plays the first two-player video game. Fox and Hounds was a game where the fox (a red dot) was chased by the hounds (white dots). The controller were two knobs –  horizontal and vertical. You would see how long you could avoid the hounds.

From his own website (http://www.ralphbaer.com/video_game_history.htm): 7 May 1967 – Played first two-player video game (I lost!)

This was part of a series of more complex video games including shooting games, handball and Ping Pong. Ultimately leading to the Magnavox Odyssey TV game system in 1972.

Baer passed away on December 8, 2014.

Paint.Net

2004 – A free raster graphics editor, Paint.NET was created and released by Rick Brewster as a school project at Washington State University. The software was released under the MIT License and was at first Open Source. After multiple cases of plagiarism, the software moved to Creative Commons, then in version 3.36 was turned to closed-source (but still free).

The latest version of Paint.Net 4.0 uses NET framework 4.5.1.
