  • Mego 2 XL returning . Conversational AI learning robot for kids.

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    Just about 45 years ago a toy robot called Mego 2 XL was one of the hottest things around.   It featured interactive play using eight track tapes.   And now Mego is back…with a new 2 XL robot….or maybe we should say cobot…this time with ability to speak more than forty languages and converse using AI.   There are lots of parental safeguards.  President Bruce Katz..

“It’s not like an Alexa where you ask it a question and it just gives you an answer.  It truly becomes a companion to the child, it has short and long term memory.”

Check out our full interview online…for a demo and you’ll get a glimpse of the original Mego 2 XL too.  Look for the new Mego 2 XL to be in stores by early spring.

  • Withings BeamO will bring new tech to digital health and tele-medicine

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     The French digital wellness company Withings once again gathered lots of attention at CES this year for its latest gadget called BeamO.   It looks sort of like a little TV remote….but is packed with sensors that allow it to take an EKG, your temperature, your blood oxygen level…and serve as a stethoscope that can allow you and medical professionals to hear your heart and lungs…during a telehealth visit.   It could be a game changer once  FDA approved and on the market later this year.  Product manager Livia Robic..

“You can have up to eight users.  This product was developed for family use.  So if you want to track your children’s health, your partner’s health, your elderly parents’ health, you can have them all have a profile on your product.”

The price will likely be about 250 dollars..and the hope is insurance companies could cover all or some of the cost.   Learn more at www.withings.com.

  • GoSun Solar Heated Seat brings warmth when you need it

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.       Power from the sun can help to warm your buns.   Well it almost rhymes.   GoSun, the innovative company that makes a range of products including some great solar ovens…where you really can cook buns….is out with a Solar Heated Seat.   Founder and CEO Patrick Sherwin says a solar panel on the back of the seat….that can be used in stadiums, on the ground, or on another chair….charges a battery that powers the heating…

“It heats you up super quickly. It’s instantaneous and it’s right where you need it.  I’m generally sitting on it on the low setting which I believe is like 10 watts.  So the solar can basically keep it charged.”

The price…about 160 dollars.   You can check out the full line-up at www.gosun.co.

  • A go anywhere security cam from Remo+

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. A new go anywhere security camera that installs in seconds. That’s what IrisID has created with the Remo+ DoorCam 3 LTE. Director of Sales Bryan Quackenbush says it can be set up, like previous models of the DoorCam…using WiFi.

“But it has cellular connectivity. So it takes it one step further of being portable on the road. You just hang it over your door. In the event that WiFi goes down, the new model kicks in with cellular so that you’re never without your security camera.”

In a hotel room….maybe even in your car. For home use only…the regular DoorCam 3 offers fast and easy security. It works for months on standard batteries and sells for about 250 dollars. For more head to www.remoplus.co.
