Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  Michael Steep has a long and storied career working with many of the best known names in technology.  Today he is founder and executive director of Stanford University School of Engineering’s Disruptive Technology & Digital Cities Program…and the author of a new book titled First Light of Day.  It’s a cautionary work about AI and more blending fiction and non fiction…

“What I really wanted to do is find a mechanism that would allow people to see in the future what the impact of all this is to society and then be able to empathize with the characters who are dealing with it.  The second part of the book is a compendium, factual, of all the disruptive technology that is driving actually some of the assumptions in the book.”

Raising issues and provoking thought about decisions that are looming in our not too distant future.  First Light of Day …by Michael Steep.

“Meaning you can just have one camera..the front camera…on…and the back camera off.  Or you can easily toggle and switch the back camera on.  It makes it great as a regular one lens camera or really gives you a lot of creative freedom to do things with two lenses that you can’t do with just one lens.”

A six microphone array lets you capture surround sound as well.  The GoPro Max can livestream in 1080p…and does time lapse video too.  The price…about five hundred dollars.

“That is the way of the future.  Moving away from gas and toward an electric or cordless battery powered alternative.”

It is considerably quieter too.  There are more innovations at www.snowjoe.com including the Shovelution strain reducing shovel and the Ice Dozer snow and ice scraper.  We like gadgets that are smart.
