Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  It’s not an easy choice for consumers these days…when it comes to picking between Google’s Nest and Amazon’s Alexa smart  home technology.  Boy would we love to see them work well together….one can only hope.  There is a lot to like with the new Nest Hub Max…from the entertainment options…including YouTube TV …smart home control…of Nest devices and more…a camera for security and communication that enables hand gesture control too.  Google Duo lets you video conference with any Android or iOS device.   The camera can recognize users as well with Face Match.   The stereo speakers do a very respectable job playing music…and the big ten inch screen is great for showing off images you’ve stored on Google Photos.  The latest price…about 229 dollars…but you may find some holiday deals and bundles.

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  Acoustic Sheep is the name of a company that has carved out a niche making headphones housed in soft headbands….they’ve been around since way back in 2007.  The latest SleepPhones Effortless models feature wireless charging, Bluetooth  and as always…tons of comfort.  There is also an ASMR model pre-loaded with content to help you relax.  When you are on the go…Plantronics has jumped into the true wireless earbud competition with the BackBeat Pro 5100.  Plantronics is known for impressive sound quality and delivers again.  The older micro-USB used for charging is a bit of a drawback…but doesn’t have much to do with performance once they are in your ears.  And the BackBeat app offers some great customization.
