  • Google bringing more AI into the home with latest devices

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        Ready for more AI in your home?     There’s news from both Amazon and Google.   In this episode, we’ll take a look at what Google is doing with Gemini for Home.   The great news here is  Google’s support for core Nest devices, including Nest Thermostat models since 2015.   For cameras, adding Gemini into he mix is game changing.   According to Google’s blog post…instead of a camera notifying you that a person was detected…your camera can tell you it saw Robin walking with flowers.   Automations…to control lights and other devices are easier to create too with the new Google Home app.  And the new capabilities will be available on third party devices as well, including the new onn cameras and doorbells from Walmart.   A ten dollar a month subscription will be needed for some of the new features.

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Dr. Michael Roizen is a best selling author and the Chief Wellness Officer emeritus at the Cleveland Clinic. He is a strong proponent of taking charge of your health now, no matter what your age, because rapid advancements in research will soon enable dramatic slowdowns in aging. Speaking on the What’s Next Living Longer Better Smarter podcast, which I co-host with Mary Furlong, Dr. Mike, as he likes to be referred to, told us…

“As you know, when the first human genome was done it was 3.1 billion and ten years to do it. It’s now 40 dollars and six hours. Which means we can look at the basic mechanism of aging.”

Dr. Roizen has a new coaching platform on the way as well. Learn more at 4Youngevity.com.

  • Online help in finding the right child safety seat

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Some online help finding the right car safety seat for kids. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the statistics are frightening. In 2023 in the U.S. three children were killed and more than four hundred injured…on average…every day. NHTSA’s Laura Dunn… says kids shouldn’t be in the front seat until at least age 13. And for help in finding the right car seat or booster…

“We have a very cool tool called the car seat finder where you can get help finding the right seat based on your child’s age, height and weight. And pop that information in and it will give you an output of all the seats that are appropriate.”

There are installation videos as well. Learn more at NHTSA.gov/therightseat.
