  • Nomad's Universal Apple Watch Cable does it all

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Where were you the last time time was running out on your Apple Watch? What we mean of course is the battery and the need to re-charge. The folks at Nomad Goods have come up with a great new Universal Apple Watch Cable….that will let you re-charge from an iPhone or iPad….or any USB C power source. It is a lifesaver for travelers or for everyday. Nomad Goods CEO Noah Dentzel…

“It’s the one cable that charges everything in the Apple ecosystem. It’s the one and done. It’s the only cable you need to charge all your stuff. You don’t have to worry about another cable, another this, another that. You don’t need two ports. You know, when you’re in a car and you have perhaps only one USB C there, you don’t want to have the Apple Watch cable there dangling around and then you’ve got to remove that and put your other cable in. Everything’s charged all from that one cable.”

It can even charge a Macbook. At a hundred dollars…the Universal Cable for Apple Watch is pretty expensive….but the convenience and quality make it a worthwhile investment for many.

  • So what's been trending on Google and YouTube

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. One of the funny things about the search trends reported by Google during the Super Bowl ….was that one of those leading trends was a search for what the greatest come backs were…

“Yes, biggest comebacks in NFL history. Because you know the score. It was such a one sided show for so long and people saw a nil on that scoreboard for so long. Some people were wanting a real game out of it and they were probably hopeful and looking for like, well, what have the comebacks been like in the past and what could we see happen here.”

Nope …didn’t happen. Google Trends expert Smirti Sinha says the most viewed Super Bowl ad on YouTube belonged to Booking.com followed by the Ram truck ads. Lots of folks were also searching for how much those Super Bowl ads cost.

  • Thinkware ARC dashcam offers quality and affordability

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. A high quality dash cam that won’t break the bank. The Thinkware ARC is a front and rear camera solution that records in 2K rsolution…giving you sharp video…with automatic exposure adjustments and what Thinkware calls Super Night Vision which we recommend enabling. We have found performance during the day, however, is significantly better. The ARC records onto a microSD card…which is included …as is an external GPS sensor. And you can find it for under 250 dollars. The results, overall, are impressive. We also like some of the built in intelligence…driver alerts for when traffic is moving or a light changes are useful. The touchscreen operation is handy as well. More info? Head to Thinkware.us.

  • Is the transition to electric vehicles "Inevitable" ?

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Is the transition to electric vehicles really Inevitable? There’s a new book from Wall Street Journal automotive reporter Mike Colias titled Inevitable- Inside the Messy, Unstoppable Transition to Electric Vehicles. Colias says American consumers and car makers are behind many in Europe, especially Scandanavia, and well behind the pace in China….but automotive leaders, even here, know the change is underway..

“Tesla obviously had been the leader and the pioneer and is still the largest EV seller in the world. But the China part of the story has become much bigger. The speed at which that market has gone from less than 5 percent of new car sales were EVs pre-pandemic, now to almost 50 percent.”

It’s astounding. And so are the improvements in technology which will make the shift even more compelling. The book again, is Inevitable.
