“Something comes from the field of play or from the stage, our authenticator sees it and they authenticate it without it ever leaving their line of sight.  And that’s when they apply our second factor, which would be our overt marking, which would be a hologram sticker that has a code and you can go up and look your item up on our Web site.”

Other markings are used as well, Essien says.  It is necessary because there’s a lot of fraud out there when it comes to memorabilia.      TheRealest is also features items from USHER and the Miami Heat at the moment.

“All signs are showing that it’s going to be a high shopping season this year which means that retailers, both online and in store, are really staffing up to be ready for a quite busy season.” Are there particular categories that you’re anticipating are going to draw the most attention from consumers? “Well I think it’s going to see both in store, across retailers, as well as online.”

And that could lead to more competition for workers as retailers meet the demand.

NASA Astrophysicist Padi Boyd is among the many who have been waiting for the big celestial event as the star T Coronae Borealis goes nova. The precise timetable has been impossible to predict. But, she says, there is much to learn from it..

“What we’re hoping to learn is how material is distributed throughout the galaxy. Things like carbon, nitrogen and oxygen…these elements are created in stellar explosions and when the explosion happens that material gets spewed out into the local area. You see some beautiful images from Hubble and other telescopes. These are the building blocks of life, they’re the building blocks of planets. And learning how that material is distributed throughout the galaxy is a really important piece of the puzzle of why are we here.”

It has required some patience, but stay tuned…. There’s much more to come.
