    For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, Andy and Justin break down one of the biggest secrets they have run into on the show from fellow host Shawn DeWeerd. In the last 8 months of the show on-air and off-air Andy and Justin wondered if they missed it somewhere when in the week prior to the show, Shawn called to let them know that they were expecting again. Both guys had the same reaction of excitement for the growing family of the DeWeerd’s and when they asked when Caitlen was due, the answer floored them. She was being induced the following day! We also learn some of the points to consider with the baby’s birth on the 29th of February, A Leap Year Baby! How will birthdays be celebrated and when it comes to getting a driver’s license which day can he do it? Some fun discussion about this topic and the name picked. When it comes to celebrating birthdays with kids, Andy shares the Alice and Wonderland themed Unbirthday for the Child not celebrating. Congrats to the family on their new bundle of love with Daniel's arrival!

    Andy shares a listener question from Mark who is looking for a quality Webcam after his laptop cam has not been giving the best quality. Shawn tackles the subject of cheap quality webcams during the height of the pandemic, however some of the more known brands include Logitech, Anker and Dell. Shawn also tells us about the Razer Kiyo Pro and choices from ElGato, maker of the Streamdeck. Andy has been using the Logitech Brio 4k and has been happy with its results for Camera Quality and software integration, even using it on some broadcast in 13News Remote Segments. With the popularity of Ninja, the guys talk about how a Streaming Gamer can connect with viewers and become a big draw. Justin talks about Dr. Disrespect and Ryastream for that same connection. Slick, Andy and Justin have all worked in Radio On-Air and talk about that connection with Listeners and Share a few stories from Radio Days. Andy tells us about a station called WOMP-FM that he had worked on with Westwood One while Slick shares a story about KIKX-FM and a problem they ran into and what was said on the Radio,

    Slick shares a Listener Question from Dean in Oro Valley regarding Digital Duplicates. Dean wants to start freeing up Hard Drive Space and is looking for a program to help delete duplicates. Justin shares a solution Dupeguru and BeyondCompare from Scooter Software. Andy has looked at Roxio NXT 9 Pro for this task which has a powerful duplicate file finder in the software. Regardless, the guys recommend having a backup of the backup and store your backups offsite. Justin tells us about storing in a safety deposit box, as a note to those that have not discussed the digital like with Family, some points to consider in this discussion.

    Rumblings in the Business World about Walmart looking to purchase Vizio and the effect on Roku, what would happen to the Onn TV's which use the Roku interface? The guys talk about Refresh of TV's and why having a higher refresh rate for action, Andy doesn't think it would apply to him since he watches so much Hallmark with very little action except maybe a slap in the face.     Shawn reaches out to a family friend, who has Cerebral Palsy, about the idea of a brain implant to offer different abilities and shares his personal feelings. Justin tells us why he would want to engage in this opportunity. Listener Loretta asks for some thoughts on getting a new printer. Matt recommends the Brother Laser Printers HL-L2350DW while if there is a need for Color, Andy likes the Epson Tank printers.     A Friend of Andy's reached out about her son exercising an violent outburst after getting defeated in a game. The guys talk about how this has been accepted as normal. However, Andy offered an alternative he discovered while engaging his sons in a Video Game. Ads are always a feature during the Bowl Game and Door Dash has announced quite a promotion. The guys talk about this rather unique idea and find out Justin would love a 30 Gallon Jug of Mayo!

    Dana from Tucson sent in an Email wanting to discard a couple of Old Computers. The guys talk about Data and finding a place to recycle the components. Justin recommends the Drill method while other data removal options are discussed. Andy talks about the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) with its Greener-gadgets site to help locate a recycling center for the componants. Also in the Show, What Andy thought could be a great job, the guys take a hard pass on maintaining a railway system in German running Windows 3.11

    For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, Andy, Slick and Shawn welcome in 2024 and the guys talk about how times have changed from when you had to remember to not write the previous year on a check. Tucson celebrates the dropping of the Taco in Downtown Tucson with Taco Bell. Shawn tells us about living in Ludington Michigan and how they would do a ball drop and how Shawn was challenged to livestream at the time this event. Microwave transmitting verses what is available with LiveU or Teradek Bonded Cell Streaming is discussed and how this is accomplished today as streaming for station websites has become more popular. Shawn talks about how Starlink is moving into this area as well. The old microwave transmission for TV or Marti for Radio had its benefits but there were incidents when somebody would forget to lower the tower mast! Listeners send in questions for the show, first up was Jennifer - She was looking for info on using What’s App and if it is something she could find useful. Slick breaks down some of the features and options while Shawn shares another benefit for Global Connections. Shirley sends an Email about taking on a volunteer position and wants to know if she should get a Microsoft365 Subscription. The guys tout the benefits of using Google Docs for Shirley and being able to use it anywhere with a connection.

    Microsoft pushes ahead with the Microsoft Co-Pilot program available on iOS devices as well as Android Devices. The integration of AI into Bing has given birth to CoPilot which has benefits for those that want to use it. The guys talk about the AI Generated stories that have a feeling of "uncanny valley." Shawn talks about his this could make education more difficult for not only teachers but also the students. The guys talk about how the birth of the internet for most, changed the game in schools. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been named Game of the Year 2023 by Steam and Shawn tells us about the experience of playing and a recent story in the news about the game.

    CES begins January 9th in Las Vegas, Jessica Booth Director of Research for Consumer Technology Association joins the show to talk about the upcoming show and some of the highlights to check out. Jessica shares some of the Keynote presentations including Snap and Loreal and how they embrace technology. We also learned about a couple of themes for this year, Tech For Good and how using technology can be used for Sustainability and even help to battle food insecurities. Jessica tells us about the Jackery Solar Mars Bot which could also help in the development of Alternative Power Sources. Eureka Park will return with some great opportunities for startups at this year’s CES.

    Returning to the show is 60 Sec Tech, Shawn begins with his story of Flipper Zero and how popular it has become. Slick focuses on how Microsoft Outlook is now Free for the time being on the Mac. Andy rants about the Public Domain and how already Steamboat Willie has been transformed into a Horror Film following the success of the Horror film with Winnie the Pooh character.

    In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, Andy and Shawn wrap up the year 2023 with a discussion on headphones. Shawn is broadcasting from a basement while the family celebrates the holidays, we will refer to that as a Dungeon! Shawn is wearing the Wyze Gaming Headphones and tells us about some of the good points versus what he wish the Wyze headsets would have similar to his Steel Series headset which centers around dual audio. Andy wonders with so many options, Logi, SteelSeries, Hyper X, where is the original leader in Sound - Creative Labs. There are options for the Soundblaster lines and they still create some fine products. Shawn tells us about a couple of tech products he recieved during the holidays including the Wireless Battery Powered PC Duster. The ATEngus Cleaner has already been put to use. The guys talk about the need to clean the computer for best performance.

    Andy tells us about an issue with a Sandisk USB Flash Drive which suddenly is write protected, after a call with Support it was deemed defective. Andy seeks out a good disc management tool to try to fix himself. Shawn recommends the Subreddit for Data Recovery available https://www.reddit.com/r/datarecovery/.

    Shawn and Andy talk about a video Justin sent them earlier in the week, a Spiderboard. Shawn talks about the level of tech this is but also serves as a warning to not chuck out non working USB Drives and to be careful where they plugged into. Shawn tells us about a recent security issue with a web portal connected to Ubiquity devices which has since been corrected.

    Shawn and Andy talk about some steps to take when you believe your system may have been comprimised and how some users aren't sure how to shut off the computer and the steps after it has been shut off. In a story in the news which had Apple 9 Series Watch and Ultra 2 not able to sell these in the US, with that Apple has pulled them from Online and In Store Apple purchase. This was due to a patent issue from Masimo . Since this show aired after asking the federal government to step in, which they refused, the Sales have been reinstated.

    Shawn has the AirBuds Pro and Andy is thinking about getting a pair and the benefits over the Pro versus Standard are discussed. Andy talks about an Article he saw at CNET regarding getting good audio from your television. This has been an issue for many viewers trying to make dialog more listenable, a soundbar may not always be the ultimate solution. While Netflix has done a good job with accesabilty in audio, Shawn has seen some benefits with Roku TV's and the Roku App on the Smartphone. Andy talks about Epic and how at the Site store.epicgames.com users may be able to find some discounted or free games to play. Shawn tells us about ADSBExhange, A flight tracking site for finding aircraft around the world.
