더 잘 들을 수 있는 5가지 방법

We are losing our listening. 우리는 듣는 방법을 잃어가고 있습니다. We spend roughly 60 percent of our

communication time listening, but we're not very good at it. 우리는 소통할 때 쓰는 시간의 60% 정도를 청각에 사용하지만 정작 우리는 잘 듣지 못합니다.

We retain just 25 percent of what we hear. Now not you, not this talk, but that is generally true. 듣는 것의 25%밖에 받아들이지 못하죠. 지금 현재 이 자리에 계신 분들이 그렇다는게 아니라 일반적으로 그렇다는 겁니다.

Let's define listening as making meaning from sound. 듣는다는 것은 소리에서 뜻을 찾는거라 정의해봅시다.

It's a mental process, and it's a process of extraction. 정신적인 과정이고, 어떤 것을 추출해내는 과정입니다.

We use some pretty cool techniques to do this. 이러기 위해 우리는 다양한 기술을 사용합니다. One of them is pattern recognition. 그 중 하나가 패턴인식입니다.

So in a cocktail party like this, if I say David, Sara, pay attention some of you just sat up. (웅성 웅성) 이런 파티에서는 제가 만약 데이빗, 새라, 집중해라라고 말하면 막 지금 관객 몇 분이 자세를 고쳐 앉았어요.

We recognize patterns to distinguish noise from signal, and especially our name. 우리는 패턴을 인식하기 위해 잡음과 신호를 구분하는데 특히 누군가 우리 이름을 부를 때 그렇습니다.

Differencing is another technique we use. 구분하는 것은 또 하나의 기술인데 If I left this pink noise on for more than a couple of minutes, you would literally cease to hear it. 제가 이 소리를 2분 이상 지속시킨다면 여러분은 말 그대로 이 소리를 더 이상 듣지 않게 됩니다..

We listen to differences, we discount sounds that remain the same. 우리는 변화하는 소리만을 듣고 계속 지속되는 소리는 인식하지 않아요
