Gen and Jette head back to The Bait Shop for a throwback performance. Taylor continues to come between Seth and Summer. Marissa tried to protect Ryan from Volchok because when isn't one of them trying to save the other? Sandy has to deal with some harsh realities at the Newport Group while Julie gives Charlotte what she deserves.

Gen and Jette get locked in the gymnasium with Taylor and Seth. With the waves coming in, Marissa and Summer hang at the beach with Johnny. Summer enlist's Ryan when another surfer becomes a problem. Sandy forms a new partnership to surprisingly save the Newport Group. Meanwhile, Charlotte suckers Julie and Kirsten into throwing a charity event.

Gen and Jette date heading out to the high seas when Ryan decides not to return to school but instead become a fisherman. Marissa turns to her friends at Newport Union to deal with Ryan's decision. Seth and Summer work to expose Taylor and Dean Hess' indiscretion which works out for Sandy, who's trying to get Ryan back into Harbor. And then there's Charlotte - now working her scheme on Julie. Not cool.

Gen and Jette head to Newport Union with Marissa who struggles while Ryan is jealous of her new friends. Charlotte has to pivot when she learns that Kirsten doesn't have an inheritance from Caleb. Julie is forced to leave the mansion. Meanwhile, Summer and Taylor continue their battle to be the Social Chair while planning a dance. At least Summer learns something juicy that she can use to her advantage.

Gen and Jette head back to Newport Beach to find out what happened after the shooting. The DA is pushing Ryan and the crew for more information and the truth about what happened with Trey. Julie and Jimmy can't get Caleb's lawyer to read his will and Kristen is making friends in rehab.
