It means your surgeon plans and places the implants, but a separate lab designs and makes your teeth, often in a different building or company. This split creates handoffs where no single provider is fully accountable for your final result. 

How can you tell if a full arch practice handles everything in house? 
Ask directly whether the same team designs, mills, and adjusts your teeth on site, or whether any part goes to an outside lab or provider. A clear in house answer means one team owns your case from consultation through your final result and all follow up. 

Why do full arch implant patients get stuck in temporary teeth for months?

Get a full exam with a cone beam CT scan reviewed by a surgeon who focuses on full arch implants, not another general dentist opinion. The scan often reveals a different picture than a flat x-ray ever could. 

Is a second opinion from another general dentist useful after an implant denial? 
Usually not, because a second general dentist has the same training limits as the first and cannot properly assess hidden bone loss. A meaningful second opinion has to come from a full arch surgeon using 3D imaging. 

Should I get teeth pulled before seeing an implant specialist?

Snap-in dentures usually cost less upfront, but the clips and denture base need replacing every one to two years, which adds up to more than a fixed arch over a 10-year period. Patients often underestimate how many replacement cycles happen in a decade, and each one adds another bill on top of the original quote. 

Why do snap-in dentures need constant repairs? 
The clips that hold the denture to the implants wear down with normal use, and the denture base sits on the gum, so shrinking bone underneath changes the fit and forces relines or replacements. This means the device itself is designed around parts that are expected to wear out and get swapped. 

Is a fixed arch worth the higher upfront cost? 
Most patients who compare both options over five to ten years find the fixed arch has one cost and then it's done, while snap-ins carry a repeating bill with no end date. The fixed arch is attached directly to the implants with no moving parts sitting on the gum, so there is nothing shifting or wearing down the same way.
