The Tehachapi Society of Pilots based at the Tehachapi Municipal Airport sponsor a Build-A-Plane program for local teens in their hangar. The program is approaching its third year of retired aviators mechanics and engineers mentoring local kids interested in the aviation field. They get hands on experience. I visited the Tehachapi Build A Plane Summer Program and watched the students working hands on with the tools building the plane.
