In this episode, we hear the stories of two women who share a very specific experience - the feeling of knowing someone before they had any logical way of knowing them.

First, we hear Brooke’s story. As a kid, Brooke received a Ouija board as a gift, and during her first and only session with it, it spelled out a full name that she didn’t really think much of at the time. But years later, while digging into her family history, she found that same name again, and discovered their connection ran much deeper than she expected.

Then, we’ll hear Emily’s story. Last year, Emily had to have major surgery. While she was coming out of anesthesia, still in that in-between state before she was conscious, she felt a loving presence and saw the face of a person she somehow recognized. She even knew their name, despite having no memory of ever meeting this person. And when she fully came to, she was stunned to find that same person standing in the room with her.

When Sam stayed over at a new boyfriend’s house for the first time, she never expected to leave with a ghost story. In the middle of the night, she woke to see an elderly man standing in the room, his face glowing in the light of a flame as he tried to light a cigarette. Mike Clelland, author of The Messengers, shares the experience that led him to his years of research into the strange connection between owls and UFO encounters. Years ago, while camping with a friend, three owls circled and swooped around their campsite for hours. What happened that night was weird enough on its own, but everything changed when an unshakable thought entered his mind: “This has something to do with the UFOs.” That moment forced him to revisit memories of UFO experiences from his own childhood that he had long doubted and dismissed. What he would eventually uncover was far bigger and stranger than he ever imagined.

James and a friend were walking through the woods near their home in Thundersley, Essex, when they encountered a strange child in tattered Victorian clothing, peering at them from behind a tree. For years it was just a creepy story they’d tell at parties. But then, James found a book about Essex hauntings that revealed the dark history of those woods and made them rethink who they'd seen that night.

Then, we hear from Marque, a volunteer at the notoriously haunted Rhode Center for the Arts in Kenosha, Wisconsin. One night, he entered the basement looking for a prop but found something else instead: a shadow figure standing in the doorway, blocking his way out. When a friend later asked what he'd do if it followed him home, Marque laughed and said that he wished it would. That wish was granted.

Mitaya grew up on a vast stretch of land in Jasper, Georgia, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. During her fall break from school, she broke her arm, leaving her with little to do but spend long stretches of time alone outside. Over the course of that week, she began noticing strange phenomena in the sky. On the final night of her break, she was woken up by two bright lights outside her bedroom window. She tried to ignore them and go back to sleep, but what happened next is something she still can’t explain to this day. And soon after, an article in the local newspaper suggested she wasn’t the only one who had experienced something unexplainable in Jasper that night.

When Neil was in college studying film, he lived with four roommates in a ramshackle old house affectionately called The Hubcap House, named for the found hubcaps that lined the front yard. The Hubcap House was full of life and creativity - the last place you’d expect something terrifying to happen. But one night, Neil awoke to a presence joining him in his bedroom. He believed his experience was original until years later, when an unexpected conversation at work made him realize he wasn’t the only one who had been visited by this entity.

During Marcus’s first week as a nighttime security guard at the Tulsa Zoo, his supervisor pulled him aside to share a story about the night he saw a ghost wandering the grounds after closing.
