Back in 1785 The Lord Mayor passed a law to stop people gazing up in the air scanning for flying machines. This week's episode of Tell Tale is all about Robert Halpin from Wicklow, who was one of the most interesting and important mariners of the 19th century. 

He lived an extraordinary life! Running away to sea as a young boy was just the start and he had many adventures such as the laying of a cross Atlantic Cable (that almost everyone said couldn't be laid) then losing the connection when it snapped in the middle of the Ocean, then finding it again, then losing it again (D'Oh!) and then finding it again. 

On his retirement, Robert designed and built the magnificent Tinakilly House in Wicklow where he lived out his days and died after cutting his toenails.

We are back after the Easter break with a story about a very significant Easter in Irish History. It was of course 1916 and this episode tells the story of the Rising in a different way. Ruairi comes home from school and tells his family that he had been learning about Irish History in school and his Granda, who is a bit of a Seanachaí proceeds to tell him the real story and so our story begins in earnest. 

Originally released as a Stop Motion Animation with LEGO video this film has now recorded over 100,000 views on YouTube and is used in classrooms around the country as a great resource.
