A bunch of new music to start, then we bid a fond farewell to our longtime friend and show favourite, Del Barber, who is wrapping up his "Last Kick at the Can" tour with two big hometown shows this week. I've seen Del a lot of times in a lot of places over the past 14 years. Whether solo or with a band, he's one of the great live performers, and his albums have all been mainstays on this show. If this truly is the end of his music career, we wish him well and look back at some magical moments and great achievements. Thanks for the music and the memories, Del!

Good news to start in the form of new music and some exciting events, including the annual CKUW Fundrive, which is on now! We also have some sad news this week, as we've learned of the loss of a true UMFM icon, Lyle Skinner of Waxies Dargle. Lyle & his show were a mainstay on Sundays for over 25 years. Lyle was also a great friend, mentor, influence, and positive presence. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. In his honour and memory, I picked some of my favourites from his playlists over the years and presented just some of the amazing music with a Celtic edge to it that Lyle knew and loved. We'll try to always remember what Lyle always told us at the end of every show, "Peace and love never go out of style."

The world and our daily lives are getting more and more frightening and uncertain by the day, it seems. I don't know what we can do about it other than to try to stay hopeful, stay positive, and lead with love and kindness. Oh, and listen to lots of great music! That's what today's show is primarily about, good music, the majority of it Canadian, but I'm choosing not to blame or punish good Americans and good American musicians, so we sprinkled a lot of our favourites in as well. We've got some new music, including a new record that might contain some of the best songwriting I've heard in a long, long time, and a few exciting upcoming shows to talk about!
