A “Go-To” guy is a person that we trust will have what we need, when we need it. You may have a “Go-To” for fixing your car. Or maybe a “Go-To” for help with plumbing. Maybe a “Go-To” guy for help at work. There’s one “Go-To” guy that most important- that is Jesus.

Jesus’ message would shock and outrage his friends and neighbors to the point of death. God’s word still shocks and outrages people. But it’s not our job to change it. Listen closely to Jesus to find God’s fulfilled promise for us, bringing us rest and relief.

Jesus’ message went against the leaders of the day. The truth Jesus shared was disturbing and disruptive even to the point of Jesus’ death. God’s Word still causes outrage from many people and that’s okay. Our job, as Christians, is not to change God’s Word, its to listen to it for rest and relief.
