What is it like to live with someone struggling with an opioid addiction? What do the family members of people living with addiction go through? What is it like to watch it happen?

In this episode, Julie Deal discusses the drug epidemic with Kevin and Steph and she shares some of her experience in how to keep hope for your loved one when things look hopeless.

Today, Kevin and Steph share how things have been going at their house during the quarantine and the difficulties of living their lives without the ability to go outside whenever they want and having to be careful of getting the virus. There’s also the mundane things that make living in quarantine difficult – close proximity with people all day, every day with no breaks or alone time.

In this episode of Tell Us a Good Story, Kevin and Steph have an amazing conversation with special guest, doctor Christina Murphy.

Murphy has won two Columbus marathons, qualified for two US Olympic Trials, while also being a wife, mom, and chiropractor. Doctor Christina discusses what it was like to hear doctors tell her she may never be able to run again when she was only eighteen years old. Take thirteen years off and then she qualified for the US Olympic Trials the very first time she ever ran a marathon! Talk about setting the bar with such an impressive feat on her first try.

Murphy also hilariously admits to not remembering that Kevin was on the same track team with her at Bloom Carroll High School. A little embarrassing for Kevin at first but at the end of the day, he got to meet her again after she became so accomplished in track.

Owens shares what it felt like for him to hear his name called at the Emmy’s and running on stage to accept his award, along with what it was like to work on some iconic commercial characters like the cereal  characters Toucan Sam, Tony the Tiger, The Keebler Elves, Cap’n Crunch and the Trix Rabbit. He also helped create Charlie Tuna for StarKist.

The world of animation spans from movies to shows to commercials and it’s a cutthroat career to make headway in, Owens made his mark and it is very interesting seeing his side of making it in such a difficult career.

His story begins in a small town dairy farm and goes all the way to the present, where he has become a Mayo Clinic surgeon who holds the power of life and death in his hands.

John Stauffer also shares his experiences and the difficulties of performing surgery in poverty stricken countries and the way those moments changed his perspective on life and medicine with Kevin and Steph.

On a less heavy note in the conversation, Stauffer also shares some hilarious stories of the pranks his family pulled on Kevin during his first visit to their family home when they were in college.
