There is a bit of confusion out there about Type 1 Diabetes soooo Kate (aka Giff) is on It's A Time to clear this up. Giff was diagnosed with this illness at the young age of nine. Now, for most kids, when you're nine your biggest inconvenience is probably is being invited to Oliver's birthday party but also being invited to Cindy's on the same day and having to choose between the two. However, for this brave gal it was monitoring BSLs, injecting insulin, regular appointments and trying to explain Type 1 Diabetes to the other kids. She goes into depth about what this illness is, Type 1 vs. Type 2, the battle of mental health and Diabetes and hypos/hypers. She expresses that no one is a Type 1 Diabetic, they are not the illness... They are in fact *insert person's name* who has Type 1 Diabetes. Although stating that somedays she just doesn't want to have Type 1 Diabetes, Giff shares a beautiful and inspiring message to not let this illness, or any illness stop you from doing anything or let people tell you that.
