When a traumatic event caused Saturn to "wash", or have to leave his duties in assistance, Darby started to learn more about body language and training and transitioned into positive reinforcement. Katie Kasten is the Strategic Partnerships Coordinator for Pet Partners. She and her daughter, Kennedy, have volunteered with Pet Partners for over seven years, and Katie became staff with Pet Partners three years ago. Pet Partners has a proclamation from Pulaski County proclaiming April 30 as National Therapy Animal Day.

Hallie Wells, the owner of Lumos Dog Training and Behavior Services, is a service dog and pet behavior expert who started her career as the Puppy Program Manager for a nationally accredited service and guide dog school. In addition to being the owner and head trainer at Lumos, she is a pet trainer with Peach on a Leash with a focus on the VIP Development program and behavior modification. These positions have led her to offer online service dog training services and behavior consultations for dog owners and service dog users beyond the Atlanta area. She is a certified professional dog trainer through The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers with a focus on providing modern, science-based training. Hallie joined Elizabeth Silverstein of Telltail Dog Training to discuss the difference between therapy, guide, service, and emotional support animals, what goes into training assistance dogs and how she helps people who need assistance dogs prepare their dogs for work.

Masina Kakese’s love of dogs began at a young age, surrounded by chickens, cats, and Pugs on three acres of land. She began a professional career with animals through dog walking, and she decided to learn more about behavior and training. She has also fostered, volunteered at local shelters, and worked in kennels and at a doggy daycare. She has continued her education as she launched her own business, Q & A Dog Training, and she’s currently enrolled in The Academy for Dog Trainers. She joined Elizabeth Silverstein of Telltail Dog Training to discuss why she started her business, Q & A Dog Training, how she ended up with Q, her 5-year-old Black Lab-Pit Mix, and how she navigates an unregulated industry.

Karen B. London, Ph.D., is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist and Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She specializes in working with dogs with serious behavioral issues, including aggression. Karen writes the animal column for the Arizona Daily Sun and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Arizona University. She joined Elizabeth Silverstein of Telltail Dog Training to discuss her 2011 book, Love Has No Age Limit, her more recently published Treat Everyone Like a Dog, her training journey, and how she manages and advises kids and dogs and their families, especially with older rescue pups.
