“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”

Biblical peace is more than avoiding conflict or keeping things comfortable. Jesus calls His followers to actively work for peace because God has already made peace possible through Christ. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus reconciles us to God and gives us the calling to carry that peace into our relationships, families, communities, and the world.

Ultimately, working for peace is part of what identifies us as God’s children. Because Jesus is enough, we can pursue reconciliation, extend grace, and faithfully work for peace even when it comes at a cost.

This week, we step away from our normal sermon series for a special Summer Recap Sunday, celebrating the ways God has been at work through Temple Baptist Church throughout the summer.

Pastor Doug invites members of the church to the stage to share stories and testimonies from this summer’s events, including Kids Camp, VBS, and other ministry experiences. From children demonstrating compassion in the middle of chaos, to generations of families serving and growing together, these stories point to God’s faithfulness at work in ordinary moments.

But the heart of the morning is bigger than any individual event or testimony. It is an invitation to stop, celebrate, and give thanks for what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will continue to do.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1

As we look back on this summer, we are reminded that these aren't simply stories about events. They are stories of God at work in the lives of His people.

The promise of Jesus is remarkable: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Continuing our Enough series through the Beatitudes, this message explores what Jesus means by having a pure heart and why purity matters so deeply to our relationship with God. Biblical purity isn't simply about outward behavior or appearing to have it all together. It reaches into the heart—the center of our thoughts, desires, emotions, and will.

The reality is that none of us have a naturally pure heart. Scripture is honest about the depth of our sin and our inability to make ourselves righteous. But that is where the good news of the gospel meets us. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are declared righteous by grace, not by our own efforts. Jesus' sacrifice makes forgiveness possible, and the Holy Spirit continues the work of making us more like Christ.

This message is ultimately one of hope. God doesn't simply expose the condition of our hearts—He offers to transform them. Through Jesus, we can know God now and look forward to the day when we will see Him face to face.

What does it really mean to be merciful?

Continuing our series through the Beatitudes, guest speaker Gary Chevalier explores Jesus' words in Matthew 5:7: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." In a culture that often mistakes mercy for weakness, this message reveals the biblical picture of mercy as a powerful expression of God's grace, forgiveness, and compassion.

What does Jesus mean when He says, *"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted"*?

In week two of our series, **Enough: A Series on the Beatitudes**, Walt Troup explores one of Jesus' most surprising promises. While the world tells us to avoid pain, hide our grief, or simply "move on," Jesus offers something far greater than temporary relief—He promises His lasting comfort.

This message reminds us that mourning itself is not the blessing. The blessing is found in the presence of God, who meets us in our deepest sorrow and walks with us through every season of loss, disappointment, and heartache.

What does it really mean to be "blessed"?
