Sounds Southern

Tenessee Warbler in the Dripping Sugarberry

Listen Later

Recorded on April 21, 2025, from the dogtrot, this is the sound of rain dripping from the trees after a thundershower, along with the sound of field crickets and return of the birds to their spring chorus. You'll hear the songs of American Robin, House Finch, Tufted Titmouse, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, White-throated Sparrow, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Wren, Carolina Chickadee, Blue Jay, Red-bellied and Pileated Woodpeckers, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Mourning Dove, White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos, Northern Parula, Orchard Oriole, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Summer Tanager, Hooded Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler and Pine Warbler. The Tennessee Warbler, perched at the top of the sugarberry tree, steals the show with its high, chipping, three-parted song—a welcome sound during spring migration.
