*Note: Konbanwa, listeners! At around 46:22, I reference an Asian custom that is also very prevalent in Hawaii as a part of our local culture as a whole, not just the Hawaiian people. As I, myself, do not have ancestral Hawaiian blood, i am not Hawaiian. but as a person from Hawaii, I am a local. I wanted to make sure to express that I am speaking as a local Kamaʻāina, and not as a Hawaiian native. But, in my experience, this custom is one widely participated in by most locals on island in Hawaii, where I was exposed to this practice outside of Asia for the first time. Mahalo, and hope you enjoy the episode!
*Correction edited in by producer mentions Ainori – Love Wagon as the inspiration for Terrace House and the hosts, Michelle’s, first introduction into this style of show!
