What do you think when you hear the word "church?" For many, this is a mixed bag of beautiful tradition and problematic distortion. Today we explore the dream Jesus had of a missional community of self-giving love, specifically the ordinances of baptism and communion.

God has delivered the people of Israel from captivity in Egypt and brought them to the foot of Mt. Sinai. God delivered them for a purpose and to embody a unique covenant. How will they respond to His invitation? This is the final chapter in Moses' legacy.

Finally, Pharaoh relents and allows the Israelites to depart from slavery in Egypt. They will soon discover that the road to freedom is going to be difficult, but they can trust a God that has a plan even when their situation seems impossible.

Today we read a dramatic and climactic battle of wills when Moses appears before Pharaoh to demand the release of the Hebrew slaves. Pharaoh doesn't recognize God's authority; he stubbornly refuses to surrender.
