This week, in episode 21, we're answering a reader email about whether or not 2-factor ID is really safer or not- or just a hassle. Plus, where can the records of your biometrics go after you've registered them as passwords? We're also delving into the new concept of creating historical markers for famous technology moments in time ("Bill Gates slept here").
On episode 20 of the Team Nerd Tech Show, we're diving into the future.... of AI in your business. AI (or artificial intelligence) isn't just for futuristic movies; it's happening now, in businesses around the world, and in ways you might not even realize. We dive into what it is, how it helps, and how you can start implementing it in your company today.

We also go into the history of one particular piece of software that revolutionized how business using computing: the spreadsheet program VisiCalc.
On this week's show, we're getting into a topic that many people don't realize is actually one of the most worrisome types of data breaches: public utilities. Just what would it mean to have a data breach into our water systems, electricity grids, and so on? How could the system be accessed, what needs to happen to prevent this from occurring? Since we all depend on water and electricity to go about our day-to-day, this is a topic that affects us all.
This week, Tim and I are breaking down different types of tech support that small businesses rely on- and not only that, what they should be looking for for the best kind of system and protection. We're picking up where we left off in our last episode with Daniel Davis from DuckDuckGo, talking about privacy rights on the internet and why DDG is such a better option to use than Google's search functions - and they're super easy to install, so much that you'd never notice the difference! The last episode (#15) we discussed how DDG came about, why they are different, and why that's important; this week, we're discussing the implementation of the service and how it runs exactly as you're used to with a search engine, on your phone or your computer.
This week we have the absolute pleasure of speaking with Daviel Davis, Communications Director at DuckDuckGo. DDG is a privacy-based search engine that runs a profitable business model on contextual ads- which means that, unlike Google, they make their money without getting creepy in their marketing. We had so much to chat about that we had to chop our interview into 2 parts!
On this week's episode of the Team Nerd Tech Show, we're diving in to passwords. We talk a little about password safety, why you shouldn't be using the same password everywhere (but you knew that, right?), but that if you use a password keeper such as Lastpass, you actually can use just one password- but it's to access all your passwords, and let the keeper do the heavy lifting. We also chat about a recent hack with Microsoft Tech Support, and a new way Amazon is delivering packages straight into the back of customer's cars: is this going to be a new thing, or just a gimmick?
We're changing things up a bit on this week's episode, and talking for the whole episode on just one topic: your business email.
What's spam? What's phishing? What's spoofing? How can you train your staff to respond correctly when they accidentally allow in spam via email? What sort of email hosts are more secure?
We're covering these topics and more, so if you've got a company that runs with email [as in, pretty much everybody] you need to stop what you're doing and tune in.
In this week's show, we talk about a recent ransomware issue that happened at the Weather Channel- and, more importantly, what they did before the attack that allowed them to get back to business quickly and efficiently.
