A tough black martial artist (Warhawk Tanzania) takes on warring street gangs and an evil demon with cartoon eyes that haunts the New York City subways. An accurate description for a rather messy, poorly acted, poorly directed movie. One plus? You get to see lots of how New York City looked in the mid-1970s.

This week's pick is the 1974 British psychological slasher/thriller Frightmare. After escaping a death sentence for her hideous crimes, a seemingly rehabilitated woman settles in an isolated farmhouse with her husband, only to ache, once more, for blood, and extremely awkward tarot card readings! Is, indeed, her old self back? The answer definitely is YES. Special guest Edward Payson joins us!

This week's pick is the 1982 action-type movie Raw Force. Essentially, passengers on a drunken pleasure cruise in the vicinity of Asia end up stranded on an island inhabited by cannibal monks that trade jade stones for meals of prostitutes kidnapped by a Hitler lookalike and his mercenary gang. All hell breaks loose when the passengers, who happened to be knowledgable in sloppy martial arts gum up the works, and have to fight off both the kidnappers and the zombie martial arts masters the cannibal monks resurrect. This week's pick is the insane 1983 Shaw Brothers action/horror/mystery Portrait in Crystal. According to IMDB, several mysterious killings take place in the underworld and a warfighter is trying to find the culprit behind these murders. Now that sounds pretty straightforward, but what you actually get are hyperactive fight sequences, sparkly special effects, exploding bodies, a weird underground death chamber obstacle course, and a heavyset man only referred to as Fatty, amongst other bizarre delights.

The 1984 sword & sorcery/martial arts/horror/sci-fi/horny flick the Devil's Sword is discussed this time. It lies hidden in a secret cave inside Devil's Mountain, and everything evil will fight to the death for it. Four warriors attack the keeper of the mountain and try to force him to hand over a map that will lead them to the sword. Featuring rubbery crocodile men, underground makeout sessions, hand lasers, & a fragile-eyed cyclops, amongst other insane scenes, this was a confusing yet enjoyable experience. Her husband, who has terrible hair, kind of tries to help, and their children are just asking to be punched. Considered to be an Exorcist ripoff, we didn't really see it.
