My niece Addie Meiners happened to walk by me at Keeneland in April 2019 where I was broadcasting my show. She did a quick interview about her final days at the University of Kentucky and how she envisioned her professional future.

It's pretty close to reality! Addie is now a prominent reporter on WLKY-TV in Louisville with more goals ahead.

So proud of her! 

University of Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell has another sparkling baseball team rolling through its midseason. They're18-6 and hosting Cal this weekend, then up to see Indiana before another Louisville homestand vs. Boston College and then the Kentucky Wildcats on April 8.

Dan assesses his team's performance thus far and projects on the road ahead. The ACC brings teams from the West Coast but Louisville doesn't have to reciprocate this season. 

Coach McDonnell also talks about his MLB players out of the Louisville Cardinals system as today launches the 2025 major league season.

Also, Jim Patterson will be honored at the April 15 game vs WKU as it marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of Jim Patterson Stadium.

Terry discusses local officials touting the expansion of Waterfront Park into WEST LOU-UH-VUL, a name we stole from a town in western Kentucky. (If you say WAH-FAH instead of WiFi, then Loo-uh-vul fits right into your Jethro laden elocution skeelz!).

In Washington, members of Congress went on the attack against left-leaning NPR. Jim Jordan and Jamie Comer tried to derail NPR CEO Katherine Maher. She's like, "who me? I drive down the center lane on the highway."

Opinion is part of the media universe, albeit separate from general news gathering. That's what the AP stylebook would have us all believe.

But news consumers like to hear their own biases reflected back toward them. MSNBC viewers are convinced that they're hearing unbiased news reporting and sensible commentary. The exact opposite sentiment is embraced by conservatives consuming Fox News.

Today's issue: the Republicans in charge of the House of Representatives don't want to fund liberal NPR and PBS opinions but are fine with conservative views on various media platforms.

Conservatives control all three branches of government right now so expect this battle over funding public media to remain active for now.

Attorneys for Jonah Bevin, who asked Jefferson Family Court for an EPO against his parents, Gov. Matt Bevin and Glenna Bevin, joined me on 840WHAS to explain Jonah's path forward.

A settlement was reached today for Jonah and his adoptive parents. Jonah's attorneys Dawn J Post and Melina Hettiaratchi have the debrief on today's court activities and the limitations placed upon Matt and Glenna Bevin, who are now divorced.

Rick Pitino's #2 seed St. John's Red Storm was expected to run right toward the Final Four the weekend after next.

One problem. John Calipari's unheralded Arkansas Razorbacks somehow beat Kansas and earned a matchup with Pitino's Johnnies.

Cal & Rick. No love. No mercy. No harm. No foul.

Incredible drama on many levels beyond basketball.

Arkansas advances to the Sweet 16. St. John's comes to a screeching halt, but with an NIL package that should restock the roster for next year.

After his NCAA Tournament loss to Florida, UConn head coach Dan Hurley cried about bowing out with honor and dignity just moments after cursing about the referees. Borderline personality disorder much?

Hurley, a bald version of narcissist Kim Mulkey, demands the spotlight, berates colleagues, derides opposing fans, and loves to hear himself talk. Just ask him!

Hurley was a prime candidate to replace John Calipari at the University of Kentucky. The deal never came together.

Meanwhile, Mark Pope answered the call from UK and has exceeded all expectations, conducting himself with honor, grace, and integrity.

The wait was worth it.

St. John's head basketball coach Rick Pitino was reluctant to answer reporter questions about the Big East Player of the Year stuck on the bench while Pitino's team lost to John Calipari's Arkansas Razorbacks in the NCAA Tourney.  No clear answer was given, just pushback from Coach P.

Also...was Maryland's buzzer beater a result of an uncalled traveling violation? Bettors are either thrilled or enraged.

Kentucky Venues CEO David Beck is happy to announce that Danny Wimmer Presents has agreed in principle to a new 10 year extension of the company's commitment to produce Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life concerts.

Mr. Beck also announced that the Kentucky state legislature has approved hundreds of millions of dollars for a massive overhaul of the Kentucky Expo Center.

My awesome son Simon T Meiners is a walking, talking Kentucky historian and TikTok celeb. Simon has traveled throughout the commonwealth to learn and listen about Kentucky's rich history and hardy people.

He's a research specialist for Frazier History Museum and an enthusiastic University of Louisville sports fan. We discussed the Louisville Cardinals' tall task in the NCAA tournament, buoyed by the team's amazing comeback from obscurity these past few years.

Simon also spotlighted Night at the Frazier, a massive party on April 5th at the museum.
