  • Hamilton Art Crawl
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=terrywayne/erigstrc
Filmed July 2023. The Hamilton Art Crawl is a great event that takes place on James Street North on the second Friday of every month.
    History of the event:
For over a century, Hamilton Ontario made its mark on the map with a huge steel industry, an identity so prominent that it was given the nicknames Steel City and The Hammer. Unfortunately by the early 2000s, Hamilton was noticing a steady decline in the industry.
It became apparent that if steel would not last, the city would need to evolve if it wished to stay relevant. During the decline of the steel industry, gallery owners flocked to the downtown area for its inexpensive real estate. Several shops had the simple, yet ingenuous idea, to stay open later in an effort to attract more visitors to the area. And so, in 2005, a transformative event known as Art Crawl was born on a run-down James Street. Hamiltonians were invited to not only visit the galleries, but to browse the various food and craft stands of local artists that would line the bustling sidewalks. The event became a fast success.
These “Crawls” have been crucial factors in the revitalization of James Street. Since holding the events, a slew of art-inspired shops and spaces now decorate the neighborhoods. Vacant buildings have been replaced by book shops, galleries, record stores, and cafes.

Today, she stands as a testament to a bygone era, a floating museum that invites visitors to explore the opulence and engineering marvels of a vanished age. Join us as we journey through the history and wonder of the S.S. Keewatin
by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company of Glasglow, Scotland. It was one of 3800 similar ships built from 1900 to 1920 and is the same class of ship as the Titanic.
After renovations are complete, the ship's new home will be at the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston Ont. It will be open to the public for tours, programs and exhibits.

  • Drone Tour: Neighbourhood Of Castles And Mansions (Durand, Hamilton Ont)
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=terrywayne/eupbzdpi
South Durand is home to one of the best and most architecturally diverse collections of pre-war residential architecture in Canada. Constructed from the 1850's to the 1930's, a time when the revival styles of architecture were in fashion and Hamilton's economy was booming, the owners and architects who built here had the freedom to express themselves through architecture. Owners could choose a style that best expressed their heritage or financial status and they had the means to build on an ambitious scale with quality materials and talented craftsmen. This resulted in homes that are excellent examples of an amazing array of architectural styles; Gothic Revival, Tudor Revival, Classical Revival and many that combine multiple architectural styles or experiment with new ones in a spirit of innovation and one up-man-ship that one still feels walking in the neighbourhood today.
