A major change could be coming to America’s National Forests.

In this video, we take a look at the USDA’s federal proposal to change protections for inventoried roadless areas on National Forest System lands. The proposal could open some currently protected roadless areas to activities such as road construction, timber harvesting, and other forms of development.

For hunters, wildlife enthusiasts, conservationists, and anyone who enjoys public land, this could have significant implications. Roadless forests provide important habitat for wildlife, offer remote hunting opportunities, and preserve some of the wildest areas remaining on public lands.

Today's podcast is a special story! James is an Army Veteran who served his country in the Iraq war. James was severely injured in combat, and found hunting as one of the many loves that has helped him in his recoveries. James had an incredible opportunity to do a whitetail hunt just outside of Downtown Houston Texas. James had no idea what he was in for. In the end, he walked away with a new county typical record book buck and Texas Big Game awards #1 typical whitetail for the 2025 season.

The government has recently expanded and opened thousands of acres of new hunting ground across the country. National Wildlife Refuges will reassess opportunities for expansion, new stations, and new hunt plans for migratory birds, upland game, big game hunting, and sport fishing. However, its not quite that simple.
