Texoma Fishing Report April 21 2025 - Stripers Shine, Crappie Spawn, Bass Bite Heats Up

Listen Later

Good morning anglers this is Artificial Lure with your Lake Texoma fishing report for April 21 2025

It’s a cloudy cool start to the week with sunrise at 647 am and sunset at 808 pm Temps are holding in the low 60s with the lake water sitting around 62 to 67 degrees after a recent cold front A bit of wind is in the forecast so keep an eye on those gusts if you’re launching today Texoma is still running a little below pool but is on the rise and stained with all the recent rain

Stripers are the star of the show this April Fishing for them has been hit-and-miss on the clear days but when clouds roll in and wind stirs things up the bite really picks up Live shad is top bait right now Drifting or anchoring on flats and ledges in 25 to 45 feet of water is putting solid limits of box fish in the boat If you’re after bigger linesides head up toward the mouths of the Red and Washita Rivers where fish are pushing shallow on points and humps Swim baits are working great on those shallower spots especially in 5 to 12 feet of water as the shad spawn is starting up

Crappie are spread out still spawning in the creeks but you can pick up some nice slabs around docks and brush piles in 8 to 15 feet with jigs Chartreuse is the color of choice Bass fishing is about to pop with that stained water and rising levels Fish rocky banks and gravel bars where shad are spawning Early mornings hit the docks and shallow rocks with spinnerbaits or crankbaits

Catfish reports are strong with eater-size blues biting cut shad along deep flats in 25 to 55 feet of water Channels are along the rocky banks taking punch baits and prepared baits Flathead catfish are beginning to show up around brush and stumps on main lake points If we get a good rain this week expect the catfish bite to jump even more

For hot spots try the following
- North Island and Washita Point for stripers on live shad or swim baits
- Platter Flats for blues and channel cats drifting cut shad
- The backs of Soldier Creek and Buncombe Creek for crappie near docks and brush

Lure-wise bring along swim baits soft plastics and topwaters for stripers as the shad move shallow Use chartreuse jigs for crappie and punch bait or cut shad for catfish

That’s the story from Texoma today Fish safe and be ready for anything this time of year Good luck and tight lines anglers
