Good morning from beautiful Lake Texoma. It’s Wednesday, April 30, 2025, and this is Artificial Lure with your latest fishing report straight from the heart of Texoma country. The lake has been rising after recent rains, sitting just a bit above one foot below normal pool. Water temperatures are climbing and are right around 62 degrees, with water stained in most areas. Sun rose today at 6:38 AM, and you can expect it to set around 8:10 PM, giving anglers plenty of daylight to chase that bite.
Let’s talk striper first, because it’s getting good out there. The live bait bite is heating up as we draw closer to the tail end of the shad spawn. Limits of box fish have been coming off flats and ledges in 25 to 45 feet of water. Bigger stripers are finishing their spawn up shallow near the river arms and on points. If you find dirty, warmer water at the ends of the lake, get your baits in—it’s where the action is. Swimbaits are working well on structure in 3 to 25 feet, and when you spot birds working, cast into the schooling stripers beneath in 30 to 70 feet. The slab bite should kick off soon[2][3][5].
Crappie anglers, look for fish stacked in the creeks and inflow areas, especially in shallow flats and around points. Jigs and minnows are putting fish in the boat, with dark colors working best in muddy water and lighter shades producing near docks and brush in clearer water[2][3].
Catfish are a bit up and down with the weather and lake level swings, but you’ll find blues and channels biting on whole shad or cut bait off river channel flats in 25 to 45 feet. Flatheads are turning up around stumps and brushy points, while channels are hugging the rocks and biting on punch and prepared baits[3][4].
Bass fishing, both largemouth and smallmouth, is picking up as we move through spring. The rise in water and stained conditions are helping. Fish are staging up near docks, rocks, and gravel bars—especially early. Try hard baits, plastics, or even spinnerbaits along those transitions. The shad spawn is kicking off, so expect hot action on rocky points and around marinas[4].
For hotspots, check out the Washita River arm for shallow, post-spawn stripers and the flats near Highport Marina for steady box fish. The creeks running into the Big Mineral arm are holding crappie and the rocky shoreline near Buncombe Creek continues to produce bass.
Weather’s looking good with calm conditions this morning, light winds, and only a slight chance of scattered showers later today. There’s no tidal influence on Texoma, so focus on timing your trips for early and late when the bite is best.
That’s your report for today. Good luck, stay safe with the high water and floating debris, and tight lines!
