In today's episode of the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're concluding our study on Titus 2 by walking through six things discipleship isn't. 

DIGGING DEEPER

What misconceptions about discipleship held you back from obedience? What is your plan to move forward in obedience? 

How are you building friendships centered around God’s Word?

Make a list of older saints in your local church to glean from. Make a list of younger women to pour into. Don’t let them just stay on a list–move forward in obedience. 

Write out the Titus 2 passage. Memorize the characteristics of a Titus 2, Text-Driven woman. Be able to recall the curriculum and sound doctrine you are to train other women in. 

How can you make the most of your season by inviting others to grow in godliness alongside you? (Examples: morning coffee, lunch after church, going on a walk with the strollers, on a park bench, driving to the grocery store together, after kids' bedtime) 

Here’s an easy idea to help you have intentional conversation that's centered around the Word: Invite a friend or small group of women from church over on a Monday to read the sermon text and discuss the sermon together. This conversation might happen on a walk or even at a local park while your kids play. It's a great way to build friendships and discipleship relationships that are centered around the Word.

Are you a kind woman? In heart attitudes as well as outward actions?

How might you disciple or train another woman in kindness and goodness? 

The story of Dorcas (also known as Tabitha) is found in Acts 9:36-42, where she is described as living in Joppa and known for her good works (Gk. agathos, kindness) and charity. Who comes to mind when you think of Dorcas—a woman who loves Jesus and is a model of kindness and ministering to people’s practical needs? What can you learn from her example?

Do you know a young mom in your local church or community who is angry, bitter, or frustrated about mothering? What can you do to encourage her and gain her ear so you can begin to gently pour God’s Word and wisdom about motherhood into her life? 

Do you have a heart for nurturing children? How is that expressed? How can your life model biblical womanhood in positive, nurturing ways to the young women in your world?

Read Deuteronomy 6. How are you doing at diligently loving and training your children? What are some areas you recognize need growth?

In today's episode of the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're continuing to study what it means to be a woman "under her roof" by walking through what it means to be “submissive to their own husbands" (Titus 2:5).

Which misconceptions about submission have you chosen to believe? What presuppositions have you brought into your marriage? 

How would you explain text-driven submission to another woman who doesn't see it as a blessing or a picture of the gospel? Why is biblical submission, properly understood and applied, such a beautiful truth and powerful witness?

The principle of submission applies to all of us in one way or another. Married or single, man or woman, what area (in particular) are you needing to cultivate a more submissive heart?

How does the testimony of Christ’s submission to the will of His Father encourage you and challenge you?

What hope does 1 Peter 3:1-4 give women married to an unbelieving spouse or to a husband who is not obeying the Word of God?

Read Ephesians 5:22-33. How is submission ultimately worship before our heavenly Father?

What are some ways you die to self in your marriage? 

Do you have any ideas as to how we can develop a deeper physical, emotional, and spiritual intimacy with our husbands?

Are you giving to others what is reserved only for your husband? Why? How can you change this today? 

How are you doing at being a loyal, trustworthy best friend to your husband? 

Are you a woman who speaks or thinks ill of her husband? Or, are you his biggest cheerleader and encourager? 

Make 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 your prayer for your marriage.

In this episode, we're beginning our study of what it means to be a woman "under her roof" by walking through what it means to be “working at home" (Titus 2:5), along with four characteristics that we should be cultivating in our lives in order to be a woman who stewards her home well.

What positive and/or negative images come to mind when you think of being a “worker at home”? Ask God to provide you with a heart for your home? 

How can homemaking and hospitality point others to spiritual realities and adorn the gospel?

Where are you tempted to place your identity and worth? IN something outside the home or inside the home? 

Are you preserving and prioritizing your home? 

Are there any changes you need to make in order to properly preserve and prioritize your home? 

What are some ways the gospel and the heart of Christ could be put on display through your heart for the home? 

Read Proverbs 31:10-31. 

Godly homemaking isn’t about glamorizing mundane tasks, but rather taking advantage of every opportunity to “invite heaven's realities” into the lives of those living under your roof. What do you see in Proverbs 31:10-31 that might help you carry out your own daily responsibilities to the glory of God? 

In what area could you use some encouragement, training, or practical help to be a more effective keeper/worker at home? Ask the Lord to direct you to a woman in your local church who is willing to disciple you in this specific area. 

What insights and practical skills have you learned in managing your home that you could share with another woman you are discipling to encourage them in their work at home? 

Today on the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're continuing our study in Titus 2. In this episode, we're concluding what it means to be a woman "under control" by walking through what it means "to be...pure" (Titus 2:5), along with five disciplines to adopt that aid in maintaining purity.

2. In light of the various Scripture references shared in today's lesson, do you love righteousness and hate wickedness? Or, is it a fleeting thought that you are not vigilant in protecting? 

3. How can personal hedges or daily disciplines be helpful in the pursuit of holiness? What are your disciplines? Do you need to establish some new ones?

Think of a recent time you weren't thinking sensibly? What was the result? How might operating from a sophron mindset have changed that? 

Identify an area in your life where you need to be more sophron, self-controlled. What practical steps could you take to acquire more self-control in this area?

What is at the root of out-of-control behavior and emotions? 

How can a lack of self-control affect us when it comes to other virtues of a godly character and spiritual disciplines?
