In Acts 9:10-19, after Jesus appears to Saul on the road to Damascus, God calls on a disciple named Ananias to go restore Saul’s sight. Ananias is hesitant because of Saul’s reputation and past actions., but is faithful to the vision and goes to Saul, setting in motion the beginning of Saul’s ministry for the Gospel. The rest is history. Following the leading of the Spirit has a domino effect.

In Genesis 28:10-22, Jacob needs to fall asleep to realize the reality of God's presence in his life. A lot of us are sleepwalking through life, too, and need to be stirred up to the presence of God in our own lives.

It's easy to fall from faith when we become exhausted in life. Spiritual exhaustion can set in in our lives when we are stressed or anxious, when we are tired or lonely, or when our selfishness keeps us from living into our faith. The story of Eutychus falling from the window (Acts 20:7-12) serves as a warning shot about what happens when spiritual exhaustion or spiritual laxity set in, but more importantly it is the story of the amazing depth of God’s grace.

We all have seasons that seem dark and hopeless or times where we feel imprisoned to our circumstances.But there is an important message to remember in those times - our God is one who rescues! In Acts 12:5-11, Peter is woken up to be rescued. What in our lives might we need to be woken up from to be rescued?
