In our efforts to be lovespreading differencemakers, figure out one small thing you could do for yourself to enable you to stop and ask before acting, 'what is the way of love in this situation'. For example: asking for a moment; choosing to be really present; blessing the person being difficult; being thankful for an opportunity....choose one that works for you.

This week's homework is the practice of solitude and silence. Foundational. Begin with 15 minutes. No phones, no books, no prayer lists. Just sit and be. And then as you are able, expand the time. Have a wholesome week!

Romans 11:1-10

What is my experience of belovedness? Can I articulate it to someone else?

Most people can’t because they haven’t taken the time to reflect on their own story of grace - where God did for them what they could not do for themselves.

The homework would be to find someone you trust and tell them about a time when you experienced it. It will take some discernment and thinking first, so that it can clearly be articulated when you sit down to talk about something very, very personal. Or they could just blurt it out over lunch.

When Paul talks about "faith" he is talking from his own LIVED EXPERIENCE. He had the luxury of being hit by sort of a spiritual two-by-four on the Road to Damascus. Most of us have much smaller, subtler experiences of God's presence; but we have them. This week think of a concrete example of a time God's presence was made apparent in your life:

The day you needed a ride somewhere and a friend called at just the right moment

The day you met someone at the gym who sang the praises of a surgery you've been avoiding

The lightbulb in your brain that went off as you chopped the carrots and provided the solution to the problem you've been worrying for weeks

When you “Smell the Bull” or see a rock in the road (which might be someone in sorrow) rather than react by avoiding or denouncing, take a breath (surrender), feel the belovedness, and act from there.
