Look for new ways your life to put your faith into action. If something is already tapping at you spiritually or emotionally, just go for it. In exercising the practice of our faith, remember to invite the spirit into the process and reach out to a friend for support in it.

Matthew 17:1-13

We all know we need to change. But sometimes it is hard to make the changes we are called by God to make because we have so many human expectations to respond to, we let our respond-to-God muscles atrophy. This week try to tune out some of those human expectations so that you can hear God's call to be all you are in some small way. By doing something that you are the best person around to do at that moment. Or by not doing something when someone nearby needs you just to hold or be with them.

Matthew 15:29-39

We are called to build our skills as being the Disciples in the reading, and to do that we are going to apply the patented Jimmy Bartz Dishwasher Discipline: someone around you has something that needs to be done for them, whether it is emptying the dishwasher without being asked, or tying a shoe they can't reach because of a bad hip, or something else. You are going to find that thing and do it. If done quietly and meditatively, it will bring a moment of God's love to them, and for a moment bring God closer to you as well.
