Thad's Talks episodes

  • Stay Hungry - The Rev. Jimmy Bartz
    Scripture: James 5:1-6
Homework: Give it up, and get hungry. Like we practiced with the foam finger from Thad's during our first Lent at the Jazz Bakery, try to give up the things that keep you from fully participating in God's love. Pick one thing, and give that up. In the process, recover your hunger for God's love.
Have a great week! Eat some bricks for breakfast, and STAY HUNGRY!

  • God Willing - Thad's Episcopal Church
    Scripture: 4:13-17
Homework: Do one act of love TODAY. Whenever you read this, practice the present mindedness and submission to the divine, eternal now by loving courageously today. Knowing that you are loved, extend that love to someone else.
    Have a great week!

  • Harsh Words, Good God - Thad's Episcopal Church
    Scriptures: James 4:1-12
Homework: Make a specific goal of practicing courageous love in one relationship. Rather than thinking of this as a New Year's resolution for the year, try to hone your efforts to one relationship. Maybe it's a relative or coworker. Maybe it's someone who pushes you out of your comfort zone in the direction of challenging love. Whatever the relationship is, love bodly and with great courage.
    Happy New Year!!!

  • Words with Friends - Thad's Episcopal Church
    Scripture: James 3: 1-12
Homework: Go where you are weak. If you are a natural talker, practice deep listening. If you are a quiet listener, practice unlocking the power of speech. Whichever practice you take on this week, do it with this question in mind, "What is the suffering of the person with whom I am speaking?" Whether that phrase allows you to hear harsh language or tell a good joke, bring that compassion to your listening or speaking.
    Have a great week!
