  • Galatians #33 The Fruit of the Spirit Is Peace
The sermon explores the biblical concept of peace as a fruit of the Spirit, distinguishing between objective justification and subjective inner rest. It emphasizes that this supernatural peace guards believers against anxiety and fear through trust in Christ rather than circumstances. The preacher highlights Paul's suffering as evidence that divine peace is accessible even amidst profound trials. Key to maintaining this peace is casting all cares upon God through honest prayer and thanksgiving. Ultimately, the message asserts that true rest is found only in Jesus Christ, who reigns supreme over the heart.

  • The Desire For The Presence Of God
This sermon examines King David's determination to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, highlighting his desire to place God at the center of his rule rather than on the periphery. The message contrasts David's reverent approach with Israel's historical neglect of the Ark, illustrating the consequences of treating God's presence as a mere object of superstition. By analyzing David's psalm of thanksgiving, the text outlines key spiritual disciplines including gratitude, testimony, singing, and the pursuit of God's glory. These Old Testament principles are applied to the New Covenant, where Jesus Christ supersedes the Ark as the ultimate means of access to God's throne. The sermon concludes by encouraging believers to cultivate a heart of faith and reverence, actively seeking God's presence and maintaining a constant awareness of the eternal covenant through which they are beneficiaries of divine grace.

  • For He Is Thy Lord and Worship Thou Him
Is this Psalm a wedding song about a king and the bride brought to him, or is it something else entirely? Ask why she is commanded to forget her own people and her father's house before the king desires her at all. Then ask what wife was ever told to worship her husband. So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

  • Imaginary or Exaggerated Sufferings
Imaginary or Exaggerated Sufferings Some suffering is very real. But how often do pride, self-pity, fear, and ingratitude cause us to imagine suffering that isn't there, or exaggerate the trials that are? Eve focused on the one thing withheld instead of God's abundance. She imagined herself deprived and abused. Elijah believed he alone was left. Jacob cried, "All these things are against me," when God was actually working for his deliverance. And there are many other examples. Modern culture can make this worse: correction becomes "abuse," disagreement becomes "gaslighting," discomfort becomes "unsafe," and ordinary hardships become "trauma." The Bible gives another way: humility, sobriety, faith, and thanksgiving. In earlier generations, many Christian families regularly read the Bible together, along with accounts of the sufferings and sacrifices of Christians found in works such as "Foxe's Book of Martyrs." Such examples helped put ordinary trials into perspective and guarded against whining, self-pity, and imaginary or exaggerated sufferings. But today's modern religion of psychology and self-help - so often encouraging or increasing a victimhood mentality - can pour gas on the flames of pride and self-pity!
