That Gramophone Show

This show features the Piano playing and the music of Johnny Green. The man who wrote Body and Soul among a whole host of other hits plays piano and with his orchestra sets your feet tapping to both romantic and lively tunes from the 30s.

Neil Starr plays records of jazzy female vocalists from the late 1920s such as Jane green, Helen Morgan and others. There are some terrific backing groups accompanying these girls which include some of the top jazz musicians of the day.

The piano duet of Phil Ohman and Victor Arden Played in the orchestra pit for many Broadway shows during the 1920s and early 1930s. They recorded numerous show tunes and popular melodies with their orchestra. and sold hundreds of records several of which Neil Starr plays in this show,The High Hatters were a recording band led by Leonard joy and their recordings also feature in this show.

Sam Coslow and Seger Ellis both Composers and singers from the 1920s and 1930s. In this Podcast Neil Starr plays records of composer pianist and singer Seger Ellis who plays a couple of his own compositions as well as vocalising on a few recordings. Sam Coslow is also featured on this show, He wrote songs for several Bing Crosby Fims and can be heard singing a few of his own compositions here.
