His leadership and people skills were developed over two decades in the United States Marine Corps but Morgon has taken that passion and knowledge beyond his service. Morgon developed his coaching style after realizing his athletes needed more than just a workout and nutrition plan - they needed to be seen as people first. Morgon coaches executives and leaders the same way he coaches athletes, as people - not titles, so they can be successful in whatever they endeavor. Boundaries, sound negative but can actually have a very positive impact on your life! Jody and Morgon explore the concept of a scarcity mindset, aversion to the word “No,” soft “No’s,” why we feel compelled to explain ourselves when we say no and a lot more. Building more time into your busy life involves setting healthy boundaries and knowing how to keep them in place.

Compassion, understanding, empathy and honesty aren’t always puppies and rainbows. Sometimes leaders have to show love to their people by letting them know they’re not performing at the level they should. We call this honest love and it can be uncomfortable but is absolutely necessary for leaders that care for their people. When a leader fails to give someone honest feedback they are robbing them of the ability to grow.

Words, text, direct messages, phone calls, body, non-verbal - you might think we’re talking about communication but in this episode, we’re exploring the topic of language. There’s a textbook definition of language but it’s so much more than that. We discuss the effect that assumptions have on people and organizations, how two people can be talking past one another even though they’re talking about the same word, and so much more. Language is more than what happens in a conversation.

Do You Know Who I am??? We hear this from the arrogant characters in movies and shows when they’re not being recognized or served, but have you actually heard a person say this in real life?
