Why do bad things happen — and if God is real and good, why does He let them?

This week on That Sounds Holy, we're continuing last episode's conversation on disappointment and unanswered prayers by tackling the question every Christian eventually gets asked (or asks themselves): if God is good, why does He allow bad things to happen?

We talk about what we'd tell a kid asking this question for the first time, why "God allows it because He loves us" isn't a cop-out, and why it's actually okay — even healthy — to rant to God about it. From there, the conversation gets personal: grief over what's happening in the Philippines right now, a roadside accident that changed how we think about selfishness and self-focus, confession booth wisdom about righteous anger, and why loving our own country is something we're still learning to do.

It's not a neat, wrapped-up answer. But it's an honest one — and maybe that's the point.

In this episode, we're getting real about unanswered prayers — the ones we've prayed for years, the ones we're scared to even pray for, and the ones we didn't realize were already being answered, just... not the way we asked for it (yung mga "kaya pala" moments na ma-rerealize mo na lang in hindsight).

"Was there a period where you felt intense unworthiness that made you stop serving — and how do you go back from that?"
None of us had a perfect answer. All of us had a story.
